Questions, answered plainly.

The things people ask on the walkthrough. If yours isn't here, call and ask — you'll get a real answer, not a brochure line.

Are you licensed and insured?
We're registered with the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs as a Home Improvement Contractor (#0450415077) and carry commercial general liability insurance. Worth knowing: for home improvement work, New Jersey issues a registration, not a license — the state specifically asks contractors not to call it a license. Certain trades inside a job, like plumbing and electrical, are separately licensed, and we're happy to tell you who holds what on your project.
What areas do you serve?
All of New Jersey. We're based in Blackwood, Camden County, so Camden, Gloucester, Burlington, and Salem County work is our bread and butter — those four sit entirely inside our free-estimate radius. Atlantic, Cumberland, Mercer, and Ocean straddle the 35-mile line, and we take jobs north of there too. The service areas map shows where your county falls.
Do you charge extra for travel?
Not inside 35 miles of Blackwood — that's the free estimate zone, and travel isn't built into the price. Past that, drive time becomes real cost and it gets reflected in the quote rather than added on later. For a full kitchen two hours out that's usually a rounding error; for a single door it may not be worth your money, and we'll say so.
Are estimates really free?
Free within 35 miles of Blackwood, and done in person — we come out, look at the actual conditions, and send a written estimate. No charge, no obligation, no "this price is only good today" routine. Outside that radius we still come out; we'll just be straight with you about how travel affects the number. The county map shows exactly where the line falls.
How long does it take to get a quote back?
Usually within one business day of the walkthrough for straightforward work. Larger jobs that need material pricing or a subcontractor number can take a few days, and we'll tell you which one yours is before we leave.
Do you pull permits?
When the township requires one, yes, and we handle the inspection scheduling. Some homeowners ask us to skip it to save time. We don't — unpermitted structural, electrical, or plumbing work turns into a problem at resale or at an insurance claim, and it lands on you, not us.
Do you do cleanouts?
Yes — estates, foreclosures, tenant turnovers, garages, attics, and basements. Sometimes it's the whole job, sometimes it's step one before a renovation. If you're clearing out a family member's house, say so when you call: we work slower on those and set aside anything that looks personal instead of tossing it, so you make the call on what goes.
Do you take small jobs?
Yes. A single door, a leaking valve, a section of rotted fascia. Small jobs are how most of our repeat customers found us. We'll be honest if something is genuinely too small to be worth a truck roll and point you somewhere else.
How do payments work?
The payment schedule is written into the contract before work starts, so there's nothing to negotiate mid-job. One thing New Jersey homeowners should know regardless of who they hire: a contractor cannot demand the final payment before the work is complete under the terms of the contract. Never pay a job out in full up front.
What happens if the scope changes mid-job?
You get a call the day we find it. Open a wall in an older house and there's a real chance something behind it needs attention — rotted subfloor, a drain that was never vented, wiring that won't pass. We photograph it, price it, and you decide. Nothing gets added to the bill that you didn't approve first.
Do you subcontract the work out?
Our core crew handles most of it directly. Where a job calls for a separately licensed trade or specialty equipment, we bring in people we've worked with for years — and we tell you up front who's doing what. You still deal with us for scheduling, questions, and warranty.
Do you offer a warranty?
Workmanship is warranted, and manufacturer warranties on materials pass through to you — shingles, windows, and fixtures all carry their own terms. Everything gets spelled out in writing with your contract so there's no argument about it later.
Can you help with an insurance claim after storm damage?
We can document the damage properly — photos, measurements, and a written scope your adjuster can work from — and we're happy to be on site when the adjuster comes out. We don't negotiate the claim for you or promise to "cover your deductible," because in New Jersey that's not something a contractor should be offering.
How do you handle the mess?
Floors and pathways get covered, work areas get sealed off when we're cutting or sanding, and debris leaves the property on a schedule instead of living in your driveway for three weeks. The site gets broom-cleaned at the end of every day.
How fast can you start?
It depends on the season and the scope — roofing and exteriors book out further in spring and fall. You'll get an honest start date with the estimate rather than an optimistic one, and emergency repairs like an active leak get moved to the front.
Can I see references or visit a past job?
Yes. Ask about any project in the gallery and we'll put you in touch with that customer. A contractor who can't produce a reference for recent work is telling you something.
Still have a question? Call (856) 504-7466 or send it through the quote form — you don't have to be ready to hire to ask.
